Special Event Traffic Notice for Campus Visits this week

If you are planning on visiting campus this week – you should be aware that  the Kid’s Choice Awards will be held at the USC Galen Center.  As a result there are some street/lane closures to be aware of as you plan your visit.  Traffic around campus may be a little tight!

Subject:        Special Event / Street Closures

The Galen Center is hosting the Kid’s Choice Awards beginning Monday, March 28, 2011 through Sunday, April 3, 2011. Due to the show, the below traffic lanes on Figueroa Street, Flower Street and Jefferson Boulevard will be closed to traffic as indicated:

Jefferson Boulevard from Figueroa Street to Flower Street

  • Monday, March 28, beginning at 6:00 am, Lane 3 Eastbound will be closed until Sunday, April 3.
  • Thursday, March 31, beginning at 6:00 am, Lane 2 Eastbound will be closed until Sunday, April 3.
  • Saturday, April 2, Lane 1 will be closed Eastbound until Sunday, April 3.

Figueroa Street (Exposition Boulevard to Jefferson Boulevard)

  • Monday, March 28, Lane 4 Northbound will be closed until 6:00 am on Sunday, April 3.
  • Tuesday, March 29, Lane 3 Northbound will be closed until 6:00am on Sunday, April 3.
  • Thursday, March 31, Lane 1 and Lane 2 will be closed Northbound until 6:00 am on Sunday, April 3.

In addition to the above closures, the Kid’s Choice Awards will be filming a scene for the opening of the show that will temporarily block northbound traffic on Thursday, March 31st, from the morning through the afternoon while they film.  We certainly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.  If you have any questions, please contact Rick McCormick at (213) 743-1668 and/or Pablo Sahagun at (213) 743-1738.

Paul Ledesma

As Executive Director, Paul oversees Undergraduate Admission for all programs at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He was born and raised in southern California and is a lifetime Dodgers fan. He enjoys traveling (Italy may be a second home), discovering new restaurants in LA (tacos anyone?), and while he may not qualify as a bonafide movie-buff, he loves movies (especially comic book movies).
