Why USC?

I chose USC because I fell in love with California, Los Angeles, and the USC campus.  I can’t really explain why I fell in love; it’s just kind of a feeling I have in my heart.

Tell us about yourself

I was born in Mumbai, India, on November 8th, 1995.  In 1998, my family made the fateful immigration from the south Asian subcontinent to the States.  We lived in Fremont, California, for one year only to move to New Jersey for the remainder of my childhood.  Who would have guessed that one day, I would return to the Golden State in order to fulfill my dreams? Now, I am a Trojan at heart, and everyday I FIGHT ON!

What’d you take away from your first semester?

I truly believe USC is an amazing place to live, and it will be all of the following at one time or another: a home, a friend, a family, a bully, a haven, a nightmare, and a dream. You will find some of your greatest friends and your life-long intellectual passion.  But even when USC turns dark (yes, the sun does actually set in California), you will always hear the heart of the campus singing you a friendly FIGHT ON!

The lifestyle is different to how I grew up in the suburbs, but I had no trouble adjusting. Downtown is very accessible via the Metro; I don’t have a car and it’s definitely not necessary. School is challenging but possible – success is definitely achievable, but I understand when to prioritize work over socializing. Majority of the people that I have met at USC are here to enjoy themselves while taking their learning seriously, which is a perfect fit for me.
