You may know that USC comprises one of the most diverse and high-achieving undergraduate populations in the United States. Our students are leaders and innovators, scholars and athletes, artists and entrepreneurs, representing all 50 states and more than 130 countries around the world. What you may not know is that the majority of these students — approximately two-thirds — receive some form of financial aid.
USC is need blind in its admission process. A student’s ability to pay, or interest in financial aid, has no bearing on a student’s admission decision.

Need-Based Financial Aid
USC maintains a strong commitment to financial aid for undergraduate students and administers one of the largest financial aid programs in the United States. The University works with families to meet 100 percent of the USC-determined financial need for students who meet all deadlines and eligibility requirements.
Our commitment to undergraduate students and their families is simple: to ensure that cost is not a barrier to achieving a world-class education. We view financing a college education as a partnership and expect that students and families will contribute at least a portion of their own funds to cover educational costs. Two-thirds of USC undergraduates receive some sort of financial aid, including need-based grants, merit scholarships, Federal Work-Study and loans. It can be awarded according to a student’s and family’s financial need (need-based) or based on a students merit.

Eligibility
To receive financial aid, students must be
- A US citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Admitted to USC
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Not be in default on prior loans.

First Year Applicants: Apply for Financial Aid as soon as possible (and no later than February) to ensure you receive notification of your financial aid eligibility before May 1st.
Transfer Applicants: Apply for Financial Aid as soon as possible (and no later than March).
Do not wait to receive an admission decision as that may delay your financial aid package.

Merit-Based Scholarship Opportunities Deadlines
To be considered for merit-based scholarships submit The Common App & USC Writing by:
First-Year Applicants: November 1st (Early Action)
Transfer Applicants: February 15th
Students of all majors who submit a complete application by the deadline (November 1st for first-year students and February 15th for transfer students) will be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. There is no separate scholarship application.
USC administers more than a dozen prestigious scholarship programs, ranging in value from a few thousand dollars up to full tuition. Candidates should pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level both in and out of the classroom. In addition to academic criteria, a student’s leadership, service, and involvement are considered.
