Application Checklist: A Few Things to Double-Check Before You Submit

ou did it! After months of brainstorming, writing essays, asking for recommendation letters, and checking deadlines, you’re almost at the finish line. Before you click that Submit button, take a few minutes to make sure everything is ready to go.

Start with the basics.

Check your deadlines.

Make sure all required materials are submitted on time. As a reminder:
ED Applications are due November 1st
EA Applications are due November 1st
RD Applications are due January 10th

Proofread your essays.

Your first draft is rarely your best draft.

Strong essays usually come from multiple revisions. Give yourself enough time to step away, come back with fresh eyes, and make improvements. Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

Review your activities.

Ensure your descriptions are accurate and highlight your involvement.

Confirm recommendations and transcripts.

If you are opting to submit a letter of recommendation, ensure you have requested submission. Remember both letters of recommendations and transcripts can come after you have submitted the Common App. But don't wait too long!

Be authentic.

Your application should reflect your experiences and your voice.

Don’t forget other important deadlines!

This sounds obvious, but it’s one of the easiest places to make mistakes.

  • Application deadlines
  • Scholarship deadlines
  • Financial aid deadlines

Staying organized gives you more time to focus on the quality of your application instead of scrambling at the last minute.

You’ve Got This!

Most importantly, remember that you’ve put in the work. Be proud of everything you’ve accomplished throughout this process. Once you’ve done your final review, take a deep breath, hit Submit, and celebrate, you’ve earned it!

Good luck, and remember, we cheering you on every step of the way!
