State of the School 2025: Flourishing in the Age of AI

In his annual address, Dean Yannis Yortsos spoke of the school’s progress and of what he expects will be the role of AI in engineering education and research. He shared his views about the type of engineers that are likely to flourish in the new AI era, which some call “The Age of Intelligence.”

Yortsos stated that such engineers should possess three attributes: a deep domain knowledge of their respective fields, a deep understanding of AI technologies and an outstanding character. “They must have purpose and character in addition to technical competence, in a combination that leads to trustworthiness, sorely needed in today’s complex world” he said.

With a heart for working in education and a dream to live on the west coast, she moved to California to obtain a Master’s in Education at the USC Rossier School of Education.
