Learn more about Viterbi professors with our Faculty Highlights!
We’ll be introducing you to some of our amazing faculty and some of the great research they’re doing. This week we’re focusing on Dr. Cristina Zavaleta. Her lab works out of the brand new Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience. Prof Zavaleta’s current research interests in the Michelson Center bring together chemistry, engineering and biology to develop new nano-based molecular imaging strategies with the goal of providing clinicians with better functional imaging tools (check out those glowing flasks!).
Tune in to our podcast with her on Nuclear Medicine and Biomedical Engineering
Wanna learn more about her work? We even have a podcast episode with Dr. Zavaleta, brought to us by Dominie! Tune in for a fun conversation about nuclear medicine and medical imaging with one of the newest faculty members in the Biomedical Engineering department, Professor Cristina Zavaleta. Recently, she has focused on the clinical translation of this unique strategy—involving the development and fabrication of novel endoscopic and handheld Raman probes in conjunction with tumor targeting Raman nanoparticles for the ultrasensitive detection of various cancers.
