I am a freshman of Shanghai International Studies University, China. I want to know what is required when applying as a Transfer student? Do I need to take the TOEFL or is the SAT I, SAT II are also required? Thanks!

  • Hi Erchen Shao,

All international undergraduate transfer applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL score. The TOEFL score does not drive an admission decision nor is there an minimum TOEFL score required for admission. Your score on the TOEFL will determine if you need to take the International Student Exam (ISE) upon admission and prior to registration. The results on the ISE determine whether or not you must enroll in English language courses at the American Language Institute (ALI) at USC.

Applicants with minimum scores of 100 on TOEFL iBT (with at least 20 in each section) are presumed to be proficient in English and will not need to take the ISE at USC.

    I hope this helps!

Hi, I’m an international student who has been offered an admission by NYU for 2011 fall term. If I want to transfer to USC as a transfer student, how soon can I do it? Is the coming spring term or the summer term? Thank you!

  • Paul Ledesma says:

The next term we are accepting applications for is Fall 2012. The Common App and more instructions for transfer students will be available later this summer here and on our website. The application deadline for transfer students to Fall 2012 is February 1, 2012.

I recommend reading through our transfer website to make sure you understand the preparation necessary to apply as a transfer student.

    Hello,

I’m an international transfer student from SMC. I was just wondering is it possible to leave the US before I receive my I-20 from USC?

I have contacted usci20@usc.edu. However, I have not gotten any reply for several days. Is there a place in USC where I could get some clarification?
