Ever wondered what it looked like to be a Viterbi student on a regular day on campus? Well let me take you through mine pre-covid.
I would typically wake up around 9am in my suite at McCarthy dorms. Then take a shower and head downstairs to eat in the Village Dining Hall. Probably a croissant, eggs, and orange juice, a muffin to go. Then I head to class that could be near the Village or across campus. Class is exactly what you would expect. Note taking, making some friends, maybe a quiz or two. Some classes are a lot more fun than others, especially when you can talk to more classmates or learn something you are really interested in.
If I have a break between classes I would get lunch at EVK, the most central dining hall on campus. Or if I want to treat myself I would get sushi at the Campus Center and read in one of the lounge chairs. Once my classes for the day were over I went to my part time office job in the Admissions Center. Here, I would do homework or miscellaneous office tasks assigned to me. I got off work at 5pm everyday, leaving plenty of time left in the day.
I finished the day with dinner at the Village Dining Hall with my friends. We made it a ritual to get dinner together every night and rehash our days. Sometimes we would all head back to one of our rooms to play Uno or watch a movie. Other times we would separate to go do homework and then meet up again later in the night.
That is what a typical day would look like! Nothing super crazy but still a really fun time. Especially when you are walking through a beautiful campus on a sunny day and everyone is bustling to get to class. It was exactly what I wanted college to be.
