Coming into my third year at USC, I’ve had some pretty fun experiences around LA that I wanted to share with you all 😊

Kayaking

This past year I went kayaking for the first time with two of my friends! We took public transportation to get to Marina del Rey and walked up to a small kayak shop. We ended up kayaking for an hour along the coast and in between all the boats that were parked alongside the dock. Afterwards, we went for a walk alongside the beach and treated ourselves to gelato. We timed our trip so that we were able to take the USC shuttle from Marina del Rey back to the University Park Campus.

America’s Got Talent

AGT has done tapings in Pasadena every year that I’ve been here, and I’ve gotten to attend twice. The tickets are free and there are a lot of them, so it’s not too difficult to get a seat. It was fascinating to see the layers of TV magic get peeled back and discover all the hard work and coordination that goes into putting on a production.

Comedy Night

I recently got into watching Hasan Minhaj and was so sad to find out that he had performed in LA in 2023 and I had missed it!! Inspired by my love for Hasan, I googled free comedy shows in LA and my friend and I ended up getting random tickets to a show at The Comedy Chateau. We didn’t realize that they had a two drink minimum so we did have to spend a bit of money, but we didn’t feel too bad because we took the metro and the bus there and back. And I absolutely loved the show. They had a list of budding comedians who all had a couple minutes each for their set. Most of them were absolutely hilarious and though some of them didn’t have the best jokes, the overall experience was one that I won’t forget.
