This week is our (much-needed) spring break at USC! One great thing about Los Angeles is that while it is a great place to vacation itself, there are a lot of other vacation spots that are less than a day’s drive away.

This year, a few friends and I decided to spend the first half of our spring break in San Diego! Amtrak runs a train that goes down the California coast all the way to San Diego and picks up a few miles from USC in Downtown LA. The trip is around 3 hours and a large chunk of the ride is directly on the water, so it was beautiful!

We were only in San Diego for four days, so we made sure to do as much as we could. We walked around downtown, went to a fancy dinner, spent time at the beach, ate pizza, tacos, and ice cream, went to a beautiful park, and visited the San Diego Safari Park! It was a very eventful trip, but we had a lot of fun! We even ran into other USC students who were spending their break in San Diego.

My favorite thing that we did was go kayaking in La Jolla! I have never been kayaking in the actual ocean before and, even though I fell in because a wave flipped our kayak over, it was such a peaceful and fun experience. We kayaked next to sea lions and saw some beautiful fish. We even learned that our tour guide was going to study medicine at USC next year! Go anywhere in California and you are bound to meet members of the Trojan family.

I will probably spend the rest of spring break relaxing at home. After spring break comes the final stretch before summer!
