As an engineer, I get extremely busy and often want to take a little nap between classes. Today, I’d like to give you a little bit of insight to my favorite nap places (in no particular order) around campus, especially when there isn’t enough time to come back to my dorm and take a “real” nap. Enjoy. Also please note that these places are all places in which I or one of my friends has actually taken a nap. I did thorough research.
- Any bench on campus: I recommend that you find a nice bench to lay on and take a power nap. Overall good experience except for the tour that woke me up once. I would rate this experience a solid 7/10.
- Center for Black Student and Cultural Affairs (CBCSA): There are some super comfy bean bag chairs inside the CBCSA that I have taken one of my best naps on. The Student Union is a great place to meet new people and connect with student groups of similar interests, cultures, or experiences. Not only are there so many places where students can engage with each other, but there are also a ton of nap spots there so most definitely would encourage partaking. Would rate my nap a 9/10.
- Study rooms in the basement of Leavey Library (or honestly any library in general): The libraries have so many super cozy couches and chairs to take a study break on. Especially during finals week, power naps are essential to my success, so the library kills two birds with one stone. I get to be productive and well rested. I would rate library naps a 7.5/10.
- Hammock hill: This is such a fun place to hangout with friends and relax. My friend and I love to take a visit to Hammock hill especially on nice days to get outside, get fresh air, and to (of course) take naps. 10/10
- In class: NO I’M JUST KIDDING. Most, if not all, of the classes I have taken at USC have been very interesting and super fun to engage with. I have learned so much from my professors so naps in class are a big no for me.
Overall I think USC has so many great places for me to refocus myself and reset when I am a little tired. Classes and involvements can be stressful sometimes so taking a little time to stop and rest is super important for me to be the best engineer, student, peer, and person I can be!
