One of my favorite things about living at USC is the various events that Residential Education hosts throughout the year. One of the favorite outings that Res Ed hosts is its movie nights. For the movie nights, a limited number of residents can sign up for a spot to go to see various movie premieres. Some of the recent movies I’ve been able to see are Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Antman: Quantamania. Attendees get bused to the Regal theater in LA Live, which is the area in downtown LA by the Crypto.com arena (where the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks play). We get to have popcorn, a drink, and enjoy the movie with friends all courtesy of USC’s Residential Education.
Various organizations across campus also host movie screenings and other events that students can go to. I’ve gotten to watch Encanto and Coda at a theater here on campus. After the screening the producers, directors, and cast of the movie hosted a panel where they talked about how the made the movie as well as answered questions from the audience. Some of my friends were able to hear Janelle Monae speak about her book when it was released. These experiences were insanely cool, and it was awesome to be able to speak to award winning entertainers. Living in LA opens up so many opportunities to engage with the entertainment industry, and USC capitalizes on these opportunities which makes going here so much fun.
