Throughout my time at USC, I have had the opportunity to explore disciplines beyond engineering. In a seminar course focused on literature, I read and discussed iconic American classics like Uncle Tom’s Cabin and The Jungle, while also analyzing the influence of media today through films like Parasite and Get Out.
Most academic courses at USC are 4-unit courses, and since tuition covers up to 18 units, students have the flexibility to take a 2-unit course if desired. I have taken classes ranging from Python to self-defense, but one that sparked my interest in economics was BUAD 200: Economic Foundations for Business. This 2-unit course introduced me to economics in a business context, taught by a professor with experience as a Senior Advisor and C-suite Officer in the media industry. Each class began with insightful stories from his real-life experiences, and the class was a great way to connect with others also interested in exploring the economics of business.
USC’s wide range of general education and 2-unit courses provides countless opportunities to explore subjects beyond engineering!
