Transfer Application Tips

The transfer application deadline for Fall 2011 is right around the corner.   If you are interested in applying to the Viterbi School of Engineering, here are some helpful hints to take into consideration while you are filling out your USC application.

  • The Part II Application.
To be considered for transfer admission you must submit the Part II Application for Admission. This application provides all the information that we need to make an admission decision.  The transfer application deadline for fall 2011 is February 1, 2011.  When you submit your application by the February 1st you will automatically be considered for admission and merit based scholarships.
  • The (Optional) Viterbi Supplemental Application.
The Viterbi Supplemental Application is optional but we strongly encourage you to submit it.  The Viterbi Supplemental Application will provide us with an in-depth understanding of your academic performance and allow us to begin reviewing your file earlier.  This application does not require any essays or short answers and should not take you more than 20 minutes to complete.
  • Submission of Official Transcripts.
Official transcripts – from college and high school (or GED) –  may be submitted after the February 1st deadline.  However, your application is not complete until you have submitted your official transcripts. Be sure to send official transcripts with your Fall 2010 grades (and winter 2011 grades, if applicable). You may submit official transcripts to:

    USC Office of Admission
    University Park Campus
    Los Angeles, CA 90089-0911

  • Apply to your interests.
Because there are no impacted programs and our students are allowed to change majors, we review each application regardless of what type of engineering you indicate.  So, apply to the program you are truly interested in.  If you are unsure of what type of engineering, we have an “Undeclared Engineering” option on the application.  If you apply as “Undecided” your application will not be reviewed by the School of Engineering.
  • Engage in the Financial Aid Process.
Paying for college doesn’t have to be difficult and scary.  The Financial Aid Office can help you navigate through all the options available to make college affordable.  Click here for more information on Financial Aid.
  • Ask us.
If you have any questions about the application, the Engineering programs or USC in general, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are here to help make the application process as easy as possible.
