This year, instead of a spring break, USC decided to give us some “wellness days” throughout the semester, in an attempt to limit students from traveling and limit the spread of COVID. While not getting a break all semester was a little bit frustrating, since there was no way for me to change this, I decided to make the most of these wellness days.

On our first wellness day, my roommates and I slept in (we all have early classes usually, so this was a very nice break in the middle of the week). We started our day around 1 pm by going downtown for lunch! We went to Zinc Cafe in the Arts District (I had never been and it was 10/10, would absolutely recommend). After our lunch, we came back to our apartment to catch up on a little bit of work. Then we watched a bit of TV and contemplated how to spend our evening.

Eventually, we decided on In n Out and beach! One of my roommates and I’s favorite weekend activity is to pick up In n Out and go to Manhattan Beach for the sunset. The weather ended up being super nice, and the sunset was really pretty! It was a very wholesome end to a very wholesome day.

This semester has been so unconventional in many different ways. I definitely was not expecting to go 15 weeks without a break, however I’ll take what I can get with these random wellness days, and it did end up being a nice little break in the week!
