If you are anything like me you have an entire spreadsheet for all of the colleges you applied to and are now accepted into. This spreadsheet’s purpose is to help you decide which is the best school and where you should go. I can tell you now that all of the things that eventually made me choose USC are not on that spreadsheet. The reasons why I chose USC are going to be much different than yours. Hopefully something will resonate with you and offer some clarity about making your decision.

I was looking for a school that would help me embrace my artistic side. I have always been good at math and science but not art, even though I love design. Going somewhere that offered me classes in both areas was a top dealbreaker for me. USC was perfect for that, especially with their civil engineering building science program. I can go from a physics class to an architecture studio class on the same day.

Another thing that was so important to me was school spirit. I wanted to go to a school whose students were proud to be there. I don’t know how you could do better than USC in that area. The Trojan family is absolutely true. I know this because every Trojan that was distantly connected to me in my life congratulated me when I got accepted. This included the father of a high school acquaintance, not even a good friend. Some people say USC students’ only personality trait is being a USC student. Maybe it seems like that because we love our school! I knew I was choosing a school I would love because other students loved it enough to try and convince me to attend.

These are just some of the main things I considered when choosing a school. There are a plethora of other factors but it all boils down to what is best for YOU. My reasons shouldn’t convince you. They should help you narrow in on what your own reasons are. If USC is the right place for you then FIGHT ON! If it isn’t then that is totally fine and I know you will thrive wherever you choose to go!
