The SC Solar Car Team has been one of Viterbi’s most ambitious design organizations since 2014. But this most recent cohort may have its sights set on the team’s biggest goal yet: competing in the American Solar Challenge in July 2022. The ASC, a 1,000+ mile race from Missouri to Idaho, will feature vehicles built by teams from other universities around the world. Each vehicle will be 100% solar-powered, but this won’t mean they’ll be slacking; USC’s entry is expected to have a top-speed of 40 MPH.
