Two of my favorite classes have been BISC 220: General Biology: Cell Biology and Physiology

and CTPR 288: Originating and Developing Ideas for Film

BISC 220

A class that is a prerequisite for many, a box to check off on a form to take before their upper level classes has truly become one of my favorites. With the 3 hour lab and two 8 AM lectures a week, I found that this class was one that most people dreaded. However, as my first bio class I had never been more interested in a class than this one. Attending that 8 AM class, either on Zoom with a bowl of cereal in one hand and my Apple Pencil in another or in SLH with a protein bar in my hand and iPad in another, I have never been more excited to be in class. Even pipetting various blood types and testing antibodies in the lab was so interesting to me.

This class allowed me to enter a world of wet labs that I had not seen before. From running MATLAB simulations and Fourier Transforms, I loved growing new bacterial colonies. In addition to the lab, I loved learning everything from the bottom of the human hierarchy at a micro level to organ systems. I have never loved a class more. Our project at the end of the semester included studying GABA depolarizing neurons in infants. From completing literature reviews, to being able to work at a Research lab in the summer this class gave me skills that I will hold with me forever.

CTPR 288

Engineering + is one of the most important aspects of Viterbi. As a Cinematic Arts minor, I was excited to take this class: Originating and Developing Ideas for Film. This class truly showed me what family meant in a classroom setting. We were always working in groups to understand the concept of developing the script of a film. I was able to learn about the process of crafting ideas. Through this class I developed 15 storylines of my own that I have the ability to make into series, short films, or feature. Our final project was what I was most excited for. We were able to pitch a final film to the professor and our peers to provide feedback. I crafted a series on forms of Indian Classical dance in different states, and hopefully will be able to make a film someday.

Hi! I am studying Biomedical Engineering (Molecular/Cellular) and I am from New Milford, CT. I will be graduating will the Class of 2026. On campus, I am involved in EWB, USC Helenes, Southern California Healthcare Outreach, and Beta Rho Chi. I work as an Undergraduate Researcher in the Gracey Lab as a CURVE and Provost Fellow and as a Medical Teaching Assistant with the Joint Education Project. I am currently completing a Research Internship at the Yale School of Medicine, in the Surgical Oncology Department.
