Very simple answer – why not?

I’ve been at USC for just over a year and a half. And in that time, I’m yet to meet a single person on campus who I can only define as just one thing – as just an engineer or just an athlete or just an artist. I don’t know if it’s something in the air or water, but every single person at this campus is so incredibly unique and multidimensional that it’s hard to believe – and the best part is, no one came into USC with all of that figured out.

Something I quickly learned the second I stepped onto campus is that USC is synonymous with the word opportunity. It’s not an exaggeration to say that there is an opportunity to do just about anything the human mind can think of here. You’ll quickly find yourself having so many things to want to do that your biggest problem isn’t finding your next weekend trip or club you want to join – it’s choosing between the seemingly endless choices you have.

And that’s exactly where I believe USC shines above all. You’ll never have to choose between having a social life and going all in on academics – you can do both at USC. You’ll never have to choose between being involved in sports and doing research – you can do both at USC. You’ll never have to choose between exploring SoCal and landing an internship – you can do both at USC.

You’ll never have to choose between school and life – you can do both at USC.

USC has something incredibly special that no amount of statistics about the student population or post-graduation could ever capture. It’s something that I only truly understood once I finally got here.

USC lets you be you – and then some.

For me, that’s meant being able to continue playing lacrosse even into the collegiate level, all the while being able to study computer science and explore my passions in software and technology. I’ve taken a 8 hour bus ride to Arizona for a lacrosse tournament and come back two days later to take a midterm for my algorithms class. I’ve gone to Palm Springs for a weekend with USC’s startup incubators and presented research findings the Monday we got back.

None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for USC and the opportunities it’s given to both myself and every single student here. There’s no pressure to fit into a mold or do things in a set manner. If you want to major in mechanical engineering and minor in hip-hop dance, go for it. If you want to play field hockey and work on your master’s degree in undergrad, go for it. If you want to start your own company and be the editor in chief of the university newspaper, go for it.

In a word, you can’t go wrong with calling USC your home for the next 4 years – no matter what.

I'm studying Computer Science and I'm from Glendale, CA, graduating with the class of 2027. I'm really enjoying all aspects of my engineering education, from the classes to the amazing clubs I've joined like LavaLab, QuantSC, and more. I've cofounded and am currently working on a booming social media management startup, Fleet, with a fellow Trojan, and it's truly been an amazing experience as both a software engineer and cofounder. Outside of CS, I'm on the USC Lacrosse team as a faceoff specialist, I'm an avid wrestler, and I love dogs.
